Why Animas?
School has always had its ups and downs for me. For the entire year of eighth grade, I was hesitant about which high school I would attend. Both DHS and AHS have their pros and cons. I decided to go to Animas because its learning style fits the way I learn and take in information. I can apply the knowledge that I gain throughout our units and utilize it in mini-exhibitions and exhibitions. Having a basic knowledge of what I am presenting or even an exceeding knowledge is what I expect from AHS. Although DHS had more electives that I would like to try and possibly do when I graduate high school, I felt that Animals would have a better learning environment. When learning I really wanted to be able to have a genuine connection with the teachers so I’d enjoy and have an interest in what they were teaching. I felt that with smaller cohorts in classes it would be more likely to create that connection as a result there would be an environment where learning is enjoyable. Having friends in school is very important to me, but at DHS I think I would have been very focused on befriending everyone, to the point where I would be unable to advocate for myself education-wise.
At Animas, I already knew a lot of students who were going to attend here, so I figured I wouldn’t worry about being social as much as applying myself. For the next four years at AHS, I have the goal of discovering what I’d like to do out of high school after I graduate, as well as getting to know myself better. I want to know myself better so I can feel confident in the things I like and what I can improve on. If I don't know my identity, surely I won't know what I would want to do for a job after highschool and college. After high school, I hope to have discovered myself, the things I enjoy in life, things I want to try, and pursue something that I’m passionate about. Having my education is very important for various reasons. Having a good education will allow me to try new things and other activities that I am already fond of. Before graduating highschool, learning basic abilities that will help me in the daily tasks that adults must do is very important to me because as a student I can ask others for help and really improve myself, so being at Animas will help me learn so I can be prepared as an adult.. I came to Animas High School and I’m here to stay.

About ME
HI, I'm Avery welcome to my digital portfolio. Here you'll find what I've been doing at Amimas High School for the past four years. I little about me is that I love fashion, photography, friends, and the outdoors. A few of the photos above are things that resonate with me and I feel that they express me as a person.
